Support Groups Are

Now Online!

As AFT begins its move to a more online presence, the new bulletin board now has forums for each of the Support Groups held by AFT.  In the coming weeks and months, support group leads will be posting their meeting information and topics etc to these forums, so stay tuned and keep an eye out for more

 

Midwest Adoption Conference 2008: The Journey Continues!

On Sunday, November 2, over 300 people attended this year's 15Th annual Midwest Adoption Conference. It was an emotional day packed with workshops, panels, movies, and networking. We'd like to thank the following AFT members who volunteered their time to help make this conference a reality: Pat Frett, Laura Duker, Tony Kircher, Nancy Swabb, Roni Ben-David, Wendy Kopulsky, Cathy Rusnak, Juli Dunsing, Marcie Marcus, Alan Marcus, Kelli Hanlon, Carla Czyzewski, Eileen Hadfield, Carol Cowen, Kathy McDermott, Nadine Needel, and Moira Mitchell. News from the Board

  • A new pre-adoption discussion group will be forming early next year. This group is open to any AFT member who is at any stage of the pre-adoption journey: considering adoption, completing paperwork and home visits, and awaiting a referral or placement. We will be meeting on a regular basis and will offer not only the chance to connect with others going through the process but also to hear outside speakers from time to time.

  • We are actively seeking a new facilitator for the 1st - 5Th Grade Parent Discussion Group-   For more information, follow the link to the  bulletin board!

  • The newsletter has  moved to an electronic format.  If you would like to continue to receive a hard copy of the newsletter, please contact the Membership Coordinator.   Also, if you don't have an email address on file with AFT or need to change your address contact the membership coordinator.  These changes will help the environment and will deliver your newsletter to you faster and more economically.

  • AFT is also working with a number of other adoption support groups to bring you more family events.  Stay tuned for more information.
